Randomness

I just thought I would show you a few pictures
of whats been going on around here.
Reed and the kids bought me flowers
Daisies which are my FAVORITE.
But you can also notice that there are no dishes in the sink.
Reed did that too.
I KNOW!
What an amazing man!
Ava sleeping in her beanbag
She thinks she doesn't need a nap
but continues to fall asleep in random places.
TA DAH!
Mason is sitting up!
I have a love hate relationship with this.
He is soo happy sitting up which makes my life easier
but it means he is growing up
and I am nowhere near happy about this.

Fun Food Monday (a little late)

Ok I realize today is not Monday but
Reed has been home and he is a little bit of a computer hog.
I guess you could say that looking for a job is more important than blogging
but he's kinda cramping my style.
Anyway that's something I'll get over later.

On Monday I made the kids a fun Lion lunch.
Before I show it to you I need you to understand that I have the artistic ability of a 3 year old.
If you don't believe me look back at the FHE we had a few weeks ago and the awesome animal pictures Braeden drew.
I don't lie (often)

So here is our lion of a lunch.
I used a pear for the head, hot dog for the mane, and pretzel for the face.
I drew the body with food markers.
See I wasn't lion (haha) I have no artistic ability.
I'm sure someone who does could make it look really awesome.
But my kids LOVED it.
Ava actually asked if she was allowed to eat it lol.
Hope you enjoy.

National Toss It Week

My whole house is a cluttered disaster.
I like to blame it on the fact that I don't have enough closet space
but really my closets are fine.
So I decided I have two choices
get rid of crap
or
build a new closet
So of course I chose the logical option
I'm building a new closet!

Just Kidding!
Sorry I'm practicing for April Fools Day.
Later in the week I might be putting shelves in a closet but for right now I'm declaring a National Holiday.

National Toss It Week
ok so maybe you don't need a whole week
I on the other hand do
But I think it's safe to say ALMOST everyone has at least one area of clutter.
So lets go toss some stuff
Let me know if you try it and if it makes you feel as good as I'm hoping it makes me feel.

Arrrgghhh Matey!

We have been in a funk.
A really ready for spring funk.
So today we had a themed day.
PIRATE DAY!
My mom made the kids these awesome dress-ups for Christmas.
Seriously aren't they adorable!
And take a closer look at this parrot.
He's chillin upside down but you can still see its awesomeness.

So we started out with a piratey lunch.
I didn't plan ahead and my kitchen is kinda empty so this is all I could come up with.
A treasure map PB&J with some greenery.
I used food markers to draw the map and I'm pretty excited to see what I can do with them.

After lunch it was time for a
TREASURE HUNT
I made them each a treasure map and the hunt began.
I can't wait to try this again outside.

They followed their maps around the house until they found their
TREASURES
Which were chocolate chips

That was Ava's best mean face!
After the treasure hunt they made their own maps and played with some pirate stickers we have.

And I am happy to announce that Pirate Day was a huge success!
There was no whining and crying to watch tv or play on the computer.
They played together ALL day.
Ahhh Bliss

Poor Little Man

Mason has had a cough for about 2 weeks.
I didn't want to take him to the doctor because whenever I think the kids are sick it's always nothing.
Good thing I'm not a doctor.
But after 2 weeks of no improvement I decided to take him.
And of course
Something was wrong.
Someday I'll learn when my kids are actually sick...
I hope.
So what did I find out????
He has really bad asthma and allergies :(
And this is what he gets to do 5 times a day.
Poor little guy.

Good thing is he doesn't seem to mind.
What a trooper!

Smoothie Goodness

My brother's school was selling Schwan's foods as a fundraiser last week and while I was looking at all the yummy goodness I found smoothies.
At first I thought it was just a mix but the description said microwave and go.
So I thought I would try to make my own
And it turned out GREAT.
Go Me!
Just buy some disposable cups with lids
make up some smoothies however you like them
I just use frozen fruit, yogurt, and milk.

Then pour it in your cups and put it in the freezer.

When you're ready to use them just take them out and microwave for about 30 sec.
Stir it up and if it needs it nuke it for a few more seconds
Now grab a straw and you're ready to go.
I know we will be using these a lot this summer running to baseball and soccer.
Hope you enjoy!

ChaChing!

No I didn't win the lottery.
We are getting our tax return this week which feels like a mini Jackpot.
Humm...what would I do if I did win the lottery???
New house...
Dirt bike...
oh and of course I would share :)

Anyway...
You wanna know what jackpot I did win??
The FOOD jackpot.
I think this might be better than money.

I really REALLY dislike lunch.  I don't mind eating it, I just hate to fix it.
I think part of the reason is because I'm at home with Ava and she never eats anything I fix.
But I came up with something
YUMMY
EASY
CHEAP(ER)
HEALTHY(ER)
They are homemade Hot Pockets!

So here's what you do.  I made pizza ones this time but you better believe we are going to go crazy with these. (ham and cheese, bacon egg and cheese, the possibilities are endless!)

Make up your favorite pizza dough recipe, I made mine in the breadmaker which made it SUPER DUPER easy.
Roll it out into a rectangle then cut into rectangles.  I made 6 and 2 mini pizzas.

Then you put on the toppings of your choice.
I can't wait to make breakfast ones.
Now I don't have a picture of this because I'm not that talented.  Take one side and pull it out as you fold it over.  Then repeat with the other side.  Then fold up both ends. (Hope that makes sense)
They should look something like this.
The one in the top left corner was a trial and ERROR.
Put them in the oven and follow the directions for the dough. And when you take them out they should look something like this.
Yummy Goodness.
Now the best part.
They FREEZE!
Let them cool then throw them in a freezer bag and they are ready to reheat for lunch!  Well if your husband doesn't eat them all in one sitting :)
Hope you enjoy!

An Awesome FHE and Mardi Gras Mask

I have been a real slacker with Family Home Evening lately.
A
REAL
SLACKER
It's been hard with Reed gone at night to handle it by myself so I just didn't do it.  Probably not the best choice I ever made, but what matters is I'm starting now.  So I found this website that has lessons all ready for you.
I love it when other people do all the work for you.  The lesson had animal pictures that went with the lesson but we don't have a working printer right now and I am NOT an artist.  Braeden is though.  And what a great way to get him involved.  So these are the pictures Braeden drew for our lesson.

I must say I was pretty impressed with my little artist.  The one not labeled is a Cheetah, but I'm sure you could already tell that.  After the lesson we each made our own little apple pies.
He got a little carried away with the cinnamon
Here they are ready to go in the oven
We had bathtime while we waited for them to bake
then it was time to eat!
YUM!

Yesterday was Mardi Gras and I knew Braeden was having a party at school so I wanted to do a little something with Ava.  So we made her a little mask.  I just cut out cardstock then let her glue stuff on it.  There is nothing more fun to my kids than gluing tons of crap, or just squeezing out glue.
This was the finished project and she LOVED it.

Hope everyone has a dry day, we sure aren't!

JUMP

Mason wants a jumper.
He voiced his opinion very loudly today.
No he didn't talk, he YELLED at me all morning.
It wasn't mean yelling, it was happy high pitched yelling.
So I told him I would consider it.
But he wasn't finished pleading his case.
When I walking into the living room a few minutes later this is what I saw.

How can you say no to that?

Pictures and a Preschool Pack

Today was a GREAT day.
The sun was SHINING!
It was in the MID-40's
YIPPEE!

She was so happy to be outside.

This kid has some MAD skills!

I can't even explain how much these two love each other.  I guess I don't need to explain, you can just look at the picture.

We also worked on these awesome preschool packs I found at
The pack practices tracing letters, colors, numbers, patterns and much more.  I printed out the Batman and Robin one and the kids had so much fun with it.

Tracing the letter B
This dry erase board is one of the nicest things to have.  It's made by Crayola and I think you can get them at Walmart.

I'm going to have to find something a little harder for Braeden because this didn't really challenge him but he loved cutting everything out.

Now here are the pictures of the boys room that I promised to show you.
BEFORE

AFTER
I still have to make all the decorations but it's progress.

Have a beautiful day!
