Fresh Paint

I love painting.

Actually I love the illusion of newness that painting creates.

I bet you can't guess what I did today...yep I painted, along with my trusty sidekick.  Mason is moving in with Braeden and I wanted it to be fresh and new.  Since Mason can't speak for himself Braeden got the single vote on the theme for the room.

We are going airplane style.
I LOVE it and I know just where I want to put it.
Sooooo i bet you want to see what the room looks like huh?  Well you'll just have to wait. It was late when we finished and we didn't get everything put back together.  But don't worry, I won't tease you too long.

Project 23

I've decided that I need to be
a better MOM
a better WIFE
a better FRIEND
a better ME

So I'm starting a Project/Challenge.  23 things to finish by the end of the year to make me better at all of the above.  You're job is to help me do it.  Just ask me how I'm doing or tell me to keep it up.  Whatever you can, but support always makes things easier.  And what happens if I don't complete it?  I will do 1 hour of service for every one I don't finish.

You ready to see the list?

1) Go to the Indianapolis Children's Museum
2) Be bathing suit ready by May 1st
3) Paint at least 1 room
4) Read 2 adult books
5) Be more positive
6) Plan at least 1 date night a month
7) Make 1 close friend
8) Get the kids swimming lessons
9)Pay my cell phone bill on time
10) Sew 2 things
11) Do better at Family Home Evening
12) Get caught up on scrapbooking
13) Save some money
14) See 2 adult movies in the theater
15) Plan ahead meals and make what I plan
16) Donate clothes I don't wear
17) Take my kids to the park more
18) Do service at least once a week
19) Run a 5K
20) Plant flowers and keep them alive :)
21) Use more coupons
22) Host 2 parties
23) Be better at my church calling

There you have it.  Nothing too challenging,  just something to stretch me a little.

Finally a PARTY!

We finally had Braeden's Birthday Party this weekend.  We had to have it at my Grandparents because our house was destroyed from the past week but I'm glad we didn't have to put it off any longer.  He asked for a Cat in the Hat party but wanted a football cake because we had planned to have his party on Super Bowl Sunday.

I still can't believe that my 4 year old 5 year old wanted a fingerboard!
He's growing up too fast!

Birthday Boy with Mooma

WHEW!

So this last week has been pure CRAZINESS!  I'll give you a quick rundown so you'll be up to speed.  Monday Reed started a new job.  We are so excited and grateful for this job and for finally moving on to a new chapter.  Of course starting a new job is always a little stressful, wanting to make a good impression, making some friends, trying to get there early.  You know what I mean.  And then I was a little stressed thinking
Is he going to like the job?
Is he going to want to move closer?
What do we do with Daddy home at night?.
So we were a little more stressed than normal.
Then Wednesday morning Reed wakes me up to tell me our pipes froze and we have no water.  Lovely I thought.  I guess I will just have to go stay somewhere until they thaw out.  But that didn't work as planned.  My car battery dead.  So I called my hero of a Grandpa and he came riding in with water, space heaters, and jumper cables
.
Very long story kinda short, we spent two days thinking our pipes were froze when really our well pump had gone out.  Then Reed spent another 2 days getting the pump in.  So thank you to everyone that housed us during those 4 days!  I have an truly AMAZING family that I love so dearly.

Fun Food Monday

Braeden goes to preschool every day except Monday so I decided I needed to do something to make it a little special.  So every Monday I am going to try and do something fun for this kids lunch.  In honor of Valentine's Day I made heart shaped quesadillas.

Isn't it so cute!  Ava loved it, of course and Braeden made me cut his in triangles.  Note to self:  Valentine's Day is such a girl holiday.  Which brings me to wonder...what's my man gonna do for me???

Unexpected Snow Day

I woke up today with two adorable munchkins in my bed and this out my window.

Beautiful, but not at all what I expected.  So I decided against bundling up three kids and going to the store and instead tried out a new art project.  I saw this idea at http://meetthedubiens.blogspot.com/2011/01/bubble-painting.html.  I tweaked it a little to make it non-toxic but here's what you need.

Bubble Painting
Food Coloring
Dish Soap
Disposable Cups
Water
Straws
Paper
Paper Towels (for spills)
Plastic Tablecloth (not necessary, but makes clean up a TON easier)

WARNING-This is extremely fun and messy :)

Directions
-Cover your table with the tablecloth.  Fill your cups about 1/4 of the way with water.  Add a nice size squirt of dish soap and a few drops of food coloring into each cup.
-Put your straw in the cup and blow until the cup overflows with bubbles.  If you have older kids you could use paint instead of food coloring and it will make the colors brighter.  I was a little worried about my kids getting it in there mouth so I opted for food coloring.
-Grab your paper and cover the top of the cup to pop the bubbles with your paper.

I told you it was messy.

The cups we used were kind of tall and the bubbles kept popping in our faces.

The finished products.

The color showed up better than it seems in the picture but the kids didn't even care about what it looked like, they just loved blowing bubbles!

The Start of Something New

So I finally decided to start a blog.  I'm not really sure why, I guess maybe I just want to feel I'm doing something adult-like.  So we'll see how this goes...

Today was my baby boys birthday...
Yeah you're right, he doesn't look like a baby.  He actually turned 5 today!  Yep 5.  Most of my day was filled with pouting but there was some light when he asked me to come to school for his birthday.  I thought he would just want me to drop off the cupcakes but he wanted me to stay.  I'm still cool enough for him to be seen with me in front of his friends.  Whew.  I hate how fast he's growing up, but I love the amazing little man he's turning into.
Happy Birthday Little Man!
