Unexpected Snow Day

I woke up today with two adorable munchkins in my bed and this out my window.

Beautiful, but not at all what I expected.  So I decided against bundling up three kids and going to the store and instead tried out a new art project.  I saw this idea at http://meetthedubiens.blogspot.com/2011/01/bubble-painting.html.  I tweaked it a little to make it non-toxic but here's what you need.

Bubble Painting
Food Coloring
Dish Soap
Disposable Cups
Water
Straws
Paper
Paper Towels (for spills)
Plastic Tablecloth (not necessary, but makes clean up a TON easier)

WARNING-This is extremely fun and messy :)

Directions
-Cover your table with the tablecloth.  Fill your cups about 1/4 of the way with water.  Add a nice size squirt of dish soap and a few drops of food coloring into each cup.
-Put your straw in the cup and blow until the cup overflows with bubbles.  If you have older kids you could use paint instead of food coloring and it will make the colors brighter.  I was a little worried about my kids getting it in there mouth so I opted for food coloring.
-Grab your paper and cover the top of the cup to pop the bubbles with your paper.

I told you it was messy.

The cups we used were kind of tall and the bubbles kept popping in our faces.

The finished products.

The color showed up better than it seems in the picture but the kids didn't even care about what it looked like, they just loved blowing bubbles!
