It's a Camp In!

Today was
Rainy
and
Gloomy
and
BLAH!

So to bring some outdoor fun inside we decided to have a
CAMP IN
The kids each got a pop up play tent for Christmas
(Thanks Uncle Eric)
We don't get them out a ton because the kids think they can only use them in the living room
And they kinda take up the whole room
So we got out the tents
And they stuffed them with every blanket, pillow, and stuffed animal they could find.
After the tents were up and ready it was time for a bed night snack.
I don't know about you but around here the only reason to go camping is to have
S'MORES!
So we got out our supplies and prepared our tasty treats.

Now you nuke them for about 15 seconds
Let them puff up a little, but not too much.
Take them out and enjoy the
ooey
gooey
goodness
that you've been missing all winter.

Then after our delightful snack we watched Butler play a horrible game of Basketball.
Ok so watching TV's not a traditional camping activity but it was still a
fun (frustrating) family activity.
Then the kids passed out in their tents and Reed and I went to our nice comfy bed.
This really is the ideal way to camp.

Arrrgghhh Matey!

We have been in a funk.
A really ready for spring funk.
So today we had a themed day.
PIRATE DAY!
My mom made the kids these awesome dress-ups for Christmas.
Seriously aren't they adorable!
And take a closer look at this parrot.
He's chillin upside down but you can still see its awesomeness.

So we started out with a piratey lunch.
I didn't plan ahead and my kitchen is kinda empty so this is all I could come up with.
A treasure map PB&J with some greenery.
I used food markers to draw the map and I'm pretty excited to see what I can do with them.

After lunch it was time for a
TREASURE HUNT
I made them each a treasure map and the hunt began.
I can't wait to try this again outside.

They followed their maps around the house until they found their
TREASURES
Which were chocolate chips

That was Ava's best mean face!
After the treasure hunt they made their own maps and played with some pirate stickers we have.

And I am happy to announce that Pirate Day was a huge success!
There was no whining and crying to watch tv or play on the computer.
They played together ALL day.
Ahhh Bliss
